SACRAMENTO – The Asian Pacific Islander Public Affairs Association (APAPA) announced its internship alum Avanti Ramraj will attend Stanford University in the Fall of 2022. A member of the APAPA Folsom Chapter, Ramraj is a recent graduate of the APAPA National Internship Program in 2021 where she interned in the office of California State Treasurer Fiona Ma. “Avanti is among the thousands of APAPA student interns who have graduated from our internship program. Our internship program has produced many leaders in California and Avanti will be an outstanding one. As a rising star, her perseverance, leadership, and positive contributions will be a strong voice for our diverse communities. Congratulations Avanti on your acceptance to Stanford as the university and students are lucky to have you,” said Henry Chang, APAPA National Executive Director.

"I am honored and privileged to stand before you today to challenge stereotypes and implicit biases on the basis of color, gender, race, and more. We are going to hear stories of those who rose to defeat their enemies of equality. Armed with the knowledge to defeat our own stereotypes, we can slay the dragons of inequalities,” said Ramraj.

Every year, more than 250 students from California and across the country graduate from APAPA’s National Internship Program. In its 18th year in 2022, the coveted internship program provides student interns with valuable leadership skills through civic engagement and community empowerment. Successful applicants are chosen to work in a lawmaker’s office to gain a behind-the-scenes experience to learn about the legislative process in action.

The Asian Pacific Islander American Public Affairs Association (APAPA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to advancing Asian Pacific Islander communities through increased leadership and civic engagement.
