APAPA LEGISLATIVE ADVOCACY

APAPA chapter leaders are committed to supporting our diverse communities in collaboration with community leaders and partners to promote inclusion and empowerment. We ensure that our collective voices are heard on important issues such as voting rights, public safety, and education.

This past year, we have actively advocated for Lunar New Year to be recognized as an official state holiday, and for Asian American history to be included in the K-12 educational curriculum nationwide. Additionally, we continue to fight against the spread of hate crimes and misinformation in the AANHPI community. We also conduct public education and awareness campaigns on the racial profiling of Asian American academics and scientists. We strengthen community engagement and support chapter leaders to become effective advocates in their community.

APAPA deeply appreciates the efforts of legislators who prioritize the well-being of our AANHPI communities. Each year, we also collaborate directly with legislators and congressional members from California to Washington DC for Legislative Advocacy Days. Email events@apapa.org to join us in this important legislative outreach to ensure our collective voices are heard.
