APAPA Expands Headquarters Operations With New Leadership Team

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - At a time when many nonprofit organizations and businesses are tightening their belt due to an uncertain economy, the Asian Pacific American Public Affairs Association (APAPA) is fortunate to announce the expansion of its headquarters team in Sacramento. APAPA’s recent hires include two legislative staffers from the California State Assembly. The new hires will work with the existing experienced team under the leadership of Mary Yin Liu, the National Chief Executive Officer. “APAPA is at an exciting and pivotal time as we reinvent ourselves as APAPA 2.0,” said CC Yin, APAPA Founder. “We will continue to support our existing programs while looking to plan for the future through another generation of leadership and strategic partnerships.”
Mary Yin Liu, the oldest daughter of APAPA Founders CC & Regina Yin, is serving in a new role as APAPA National CEO. Mary is committed to continuing her parents legacy with APAPA, and has been a chapter leader and event planner for APAPA for nearly 25 years since 2001. She is a McDonald’s Franchisee in Solano, Yolo, and Sacramento counties, and worked as a Deputy District Attorney in her prior career. She will be leading the new APAPA headquarters team.
Marilyn Cachola Lucey has been named as the APAPA National Chief Operating Officer (COO). Marilyn comes from the California State Assembly where she was the deputy district director for Assemblymember Rebecca Bauer-Kahan. Marilyn was also serving as an APAPA Tri-Valley Chapter leader. In Marilyn’s new role at the nonprofit organization, she will lead key operations at APAPA headquarters, and manage APAPA’s relationships with policymakers, major sponsors, and key stakeholders.
Andrew Truman Kim, who has served as an APAPA chapter leader and volunteer for over a decade, is now APAPA’s National Chief Strategy Officer (CSO). Andrew was a former US congressional staffer, and is a commercial real estate investor. In his new role, Andrew will work closely with the headquarters team to plan APAPA’s core programs, and strengthen partnerships with APAPA chapters/ambassadors and community leaders.
Isa Whalen recently bid farewell as a chief consultant for the California Asian Pacific Legislative Caucus (CA APILC) and has taken on the role of APAPA National Program Director. Isa will be responsible for leading signature programs at APAPA, including the successful CA AANHPI Advocacy Day, the APAPA National Internship Program, Leadership Conference, and Annual Gala.
Other APAPA team members include Melody Jimenez, APAPA Chapter Engagement Manager, who was an APAPA intern for Congressmember Doris Matsui, and former campaign staff for Sacramento District Attorney Thien Ho, and Andrea Tran, APAPA Events Coordinator, an active volunteer in the Sacramento community and former Miss Vietnam Sacramento.
