SACRAMENTO – The Asian Pacific Islander American Public Affairs Association (APAPA) hosted the first of a two-part series for California Attorney General race. APAPA leaders tuned in throughout California to learn more about the important role of the state’s top law enforcement officer and lawyer – the Attorney General. The honorable Attorney General Rob Bonta is the first Filipino American appointed to this role in 2021 by Governor Newsom and he is up for re-election in 2022.

Voters will go to the polls on June 7, 2022, to vote in the Primary Election and the top two candidates advance to the November General Election.

“Smash and grab robberies and hate crimes against Asian Americans have been on the rise and the role of the state’s top cop is more important than ever. These series of town halls focusing on the Attorney General’s race allow APAPA leaders to learn about Attorney General Bonta’s public safety priorities and why California families should consider electing him to serve a four-year full term as California’s top law enforcement officer,” said Ray Buenaventura, Daly City Vice Mayor/APAPA Daly City Chapter Chair.

“APAPA’s mission is to serve our community and this town hall is critical for our API families as we amplify our voices. This is an opportunity for us to empower, engage, and inform our chapter leaders to make the most informed decision as they go to the polls in June,” said Mary Yin Liu, APAPA National President.

“Public safety is on the forefront of families and communities of color. We have a chance to elect an Attorney General who will safeguard our communities from harm and promote community safety as well as protect the interests of our API community,” said Henry Chang, APAPA National Executive Director.

The second Attorney General series is scheduled for Thursday, March 10, 2022, with Sacramento County District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert. Click HERE to RSVP for this event.
