On August 22, 2015, APAPA TVC has hosted a wonderful summer event in Del Valle Regional Park. By the beautiful lake side, one just needs to follow the tantalizing smell in the BBQ area, and you will find the site of APAPA TVC's 2nd Annual Membership Drive/Summer BBQ in motion.
This event has been held for the team to get better acquainted with new members and catch up with old ones. To start, delicious food was prepared by our famous Food Guru Ivy and her volunteers, as everything revolves around food in the Asian Culture. The event was also filled with fun activities such as swimming, soccer, volleyball, boating, etc. During the event, the members also got a chance to review all the activities in the past year and to listen to speeches by APAPA BAR President Joel Wong, APAPA TVC President Andy Li, APAPA East Bay VP David Shen. Guest speakers such as Fremont School Board Trustee Shao Yang, UBC President Charles Liu, etc, have also come to share their community service experience with us. The members were encouraged to get involved in public affairs, and contribute to the local and greater community.
Since its establishment in 2014, APAPA currently have more than 30 Lifetime Members, most of them first generation immigrants. These and many other volunteers come from vast array of professions in the bay area, gathering together for one common purpose which is to contirbute to our local community, through helping with voters registration, developing youth leadership skills, coaching youth on psychological development, as well as other activities aimed to promote healthy growth of Asian Americans in this country.
This summer BBQ event was a good chance to thank all the volunteers and welcome new members to join this big family. Together we will help each other to learn, to unite, and to strengthen our community
