On February 22nd, members of APAPA East Bay (Aiwa Zelinsky, April Chan, and Marita Cheng) teamed up with Southland Mall and co-sponsored one of the largest Lunar NewYear celebrations in the area. Hundreds of people attended and there was no cost to APAPA.
The East Bay has a growing Asian population in which to expand our membership and nurture new leadership. APAPA East Bay Chapter works to build alliances with established institutions such as Southland Mall in order to promote the mission of educating people on the importance of civic involvement.
The East Bay Chapter is well known for organizing community forums and initiatives focused on local elections. This event presented a great opportunity to meet with a new audience, people who do not normally attend political forums. We will continue to reach out to new audiences in 2015.
